New Windows Live Mesh = Failure

Here is why I believe that the new “Windows Live Mesh” from Microsoft is a failure. 

My wife and I used to share pictures using the previous Live Mesh…  You know… the one that was offering a useful 25 GB.  The first time we synched using the new one, we reached the limit.

What is wrong with those people?  Yes I know… We have 25 GB on the Other SkyDrive… The issue I have with the Other SkyDrive is that it cannot synch to a folder, we have to download files one by one.  This is not the way my wife wants to use her computer.  She wants (needs) it to be simple and easy, seamless. 

 

 

Once again, Microsoft created a train wreck with a very good beta software.  Sorry, I just purchased a chunk of GOOGLE’s storage space and will MOVE our files to it.

Update about Skydrive, I was thing about using the Microsoft solutions for photo storage since they keep bugging us with TV advertisement about the cloud but... I cannot... Here is why: Can I purchase additional storage? At this time, we do not offer additional storage space. We currently have 25 GB of available storage per Windows Live SkyDrive account regardless if you are a free or premium user.

Vélo Québec demande à la SAAQ d’interdire les scooters électriques sur les pistes cyclables

Montréal, mercredi 9 juin 2010 – La prolifération de scooters électriques dont plusieurs sont commercialisés sous le nom de vélos électriques soulève des questions quant à l’utilisation des pistes cyclables. Actuellement, il n’y a pas de règles claires qui précisent quels véhicules sont autorisés à rouler sur les pistes cyclables au Québec. Cette situation est préoccupante avec l’arrivée sur le marché de différents types de scooters plus gros, plus lourds et plus rapides que les vélos et qui mettent en danger la sécurité des cyclistes qui roulent sur les pistes cyclables.
« Le poids, la taille, la vitesse et la force d’accélération des scooters électriques en font un danger pour les cyclistes », explique Suzanne Lareau, présidente-directrice générale de Vélo Québec. « Ces véhicules ne devraient pas circuler sur les pistes cyclables, mais bien dans la rue avec les autres véhicules moteurs ».
Vélo Québec demande à la SAAQ de réglementer afin d’interdire aux scooters électriques l’accès aux pistes et aux bandes cyclables. Précisons que le vélo à assistance électrique ne pose aucun problème à l’organisme, car la batterie du vélo à assistance électrique n'envoie son énergie au moteur que pour amplifier le mouvement du pédalier. Il s'agit donc d'une assistance discrète et limitée ne dénaturant pas la fonction première du vélo. Un scooter électrique n’avance que par la force de son moteur; les pédales dont il est équipé ont pour seul but de respecter la réglementation; elles sont totalement inefficaces pour faire avancer le scooter.
Vélo Québec demande également à la SAAQ de faire des représentations auprès de Transports Canada afin que les différents types de véhicules qui entrent sur le marché soient bien catégorisés et que leurs utilisateurs soient informés des voies publiques sur lesquelles ils sont autorisés à rouler.
Vélo Québec demande aux municipalités de veiller à ce que les pistes cyclables soient réservées au transport actif.

Stay away from Holiday Inn

I would like to share my personal experience dealing with Holiday Inn.

• They will give you a smoking room by default
• If you are on the 4th floor in Pittsburgh, PA  do not expect to get hot (not even warm…) water for a shower.  You will not even get apologies nor points for their problem.
• When you reserve a room you have two choices:  Discount Rate and Best Flexible Rate
• Discount Rate DOES not allow you to cancel without paying the first night even if you cancel several days before the stay.
• If you cancel and want to room back because your schedule changed back to the original plan they DO NOT HONOR the first reservation.   You have to pay for another room.
• If you call them to dispute this policy, they will hang-up the phone while you talk to them.
• If you are forced to stay at a Holiday Inn, pick the The Best Flexible Rate since it allows you to cancel before 6PM . For me it was only 6$ more than the discount rate…

My pledge is:  I rather sleep in the car or drive 100 miles than to stay at Holiday Inn.

ENOVIA SmarTeam Web Vulnerability

A vulnerability has been discovered in ENOVIA SmarTeam’s Web products that allows someone to remotely compromise the web client.  No specific version of ENOVIA SmarTeam was identified in the alert published in the National Vulnerability Database (NVD) by NIST, but Razorleaf has confirmed that it applies to ENOVIA SmarTeam V5R19 at a minimum. 

All users of ENOVIA SmarTeam Web products (SmarTeam Web Editor and SmarTeam Navigator) should be aware of this cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability and protect their systems appropriately.  It is unknown whether SmarTeam Community Workspace is impacted by this vulnerability but since its code base is distinct from that of Web Editor and Navigator, it may not be impacted in the same way.

I've used wordpad, cos' it is more easier to parameterize, than winword, and the location is fix.

Une Torontoise meurt après avoir été renversée par une voiture avec son bébé

TORONTO - Une mère qui se baladait avec son fils de 12 semaines a été tuée lorsqu'une voiture l'a renversée après avoir grillé un feu rouge, a annoncé mardi la police de Toronto.  La jeune femme de 28 ans traversait une intersection dans l'ouest de la ville quand la collision s'est produite un peu après 13 h. 

Sous l'impact, le poupon est tombé de sa poussette alors que sa mère est restée prise sous le véhicule.  Le décès de la dame a été constaté 15 minutes plus tard. L'enfant a été conduit à l'hôpital où il a été déclaré en parfaite santé.  La conductrice de la Toyota Camry qui a happé les deux victimes est une femme de 83 ans.
